FEMA Commemoration of Fukuda Keiko Shihan
30 Mar 2013
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Five Element Martial Arts, 3743 Cedar Ave South, Minneapolis MN 55407
Please join us in memory of a legend, a great hero in the martial arts and in life. Japanese tea and snacks will be served.
On this day we will dedicate and name our training hall:
The KEIKO FUKUDA SHIHAN TRAINING HALL
March 30th is the 49th day of Fukuda Shihan's Bardo. In Buddhism, the 49 days of Bardo is a Transitional State-the period between death and rebirth. This is a time where they can still "hear our prayers spoken on their behalf" for a safe passage.
For us left here on earth, it is a time of reflection; a time to feel the loss, heal the past, value the time we spent with them, and honor the gifts they gave us.
On the last day of Bardo a ritual/service/memorial for the spirit finding its True Home, its birth into Light is celebrated. On this same day, her half her ashes will be spread in San Francisco, and the other half in Japan.
